About Us
How We Started
Young Dementia is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2005 by Mary
Anne Moisan (with the help of dedicated friends and board members) in
memory of her husband, Richard “Rick” Moisan. Rick had CADASIL, a rare
genetic vascular disorder that causes dementia, and passed away in
2002. He left behind a wife and two young children along with many
lessons learned about living with and caring for younger people with
dementia. We want to share and grow that knowledge so others may
benefit.
Specifically mindful to Mary Anne is Rick’s family, who lost their
mother to CADASIL. This organization is also in honor of Rick’s family
members who continue to live with this disease.
